At the age of 15, Nicole started working as a part-time assistant at a busy salon in the Beaches. At 17, Nicole began her apprenticeship at a growing studio, where she learned the importance of maintaining strong customer relationships. By the time she had finished college, Nicole was managing the salon in addition to working on the floor colouring, cutting, perming, and styling. On top of the management position, Nicole was given the responsibility of training the new apprentices.

In 2001, Nicole was approached by a former co-worker (who specialized in aesthetics) and asked to assist in opening and managing a salon. By the time Nicole left, the business was running smoothly with 3 employees and a growing clientele.

Nicole also had the opportunity of working at Notre Dame High School for a semester, teaching cosmetology to grade 10 and 11 students. Nicole was in charge of two classes, in which she educated students on the basics of hairstyling, hygiene, bacteriology, and different body types.

In 2003, Nicole started working for a salon in the beaches. After 5 years at this salon, Nicole had built up a strong, loyal clientele base. Nicole brings a wealth of expertise to Manzer Hair.

During her 21 years of experience, Nicole has taken many courses including; Schwarzkopf advanced colouring, colour correction, the Law of colour, Technical highlights and creative techniques; Martin Parsons up-do and cutting courses; Aveda Front line training, Age of reconstruction perms, Cutting and styling courses, Goldwell advanced cutting and technical highlights course, AG London calling cutting course, and product knowledge; Image Consultation classes; Toni & Guy classic cuts; Vidal Sassoon ABC cutting techniques.  Nicole is now a Joico educator, going into different salons and teaching stylists about colour and techniques.  She believes education is the most important part of being a great stylist.

Rachel’s passion for hair began at a very young age. Her fascination began as a child, cutting and colouring her doll’s hair. She taught herself to French braid her own hair for skating competitions, and as her ability and skills improved, people started asking her to do their hair for proms, weddings and other special occasions.

After high school Rachel enrolled at Marvel Beauty School in London, Ontario. She was very motivated and diligent, and her natural flair came through as she won several school competitions. Rachel also volunteered her time for fashion shows and plays for added experience. In the spring of 2006 Rachel was chosen to represent Marvel in Wella’s Young Protégé competition in Toronto.

After graduating hair school, Rachel got a job at a busy salon in London where she finished her apprenticeship training. By the time Rachel decided to make the move to the big city she was in charge of managing the salon and training new staff.

In 2009, Rachel moved to Toronto for a chance to explore the more creative side of hairdressing. She joined Manzer Hair in November 2009.  Since moving to Toronto she has volunteered her talent for charity fashion shows and worked on photo shoots with some local designers, her work can be seen on eeek.ca.

Rachel keeps up to date with current trends in cutting and colouring by attending hair shows and classes, understanding that education is an important part of being an all-around stylist. Rachel has trained and worked with multiple colour lines and companies such as Wella, Joico, Revlon and Schwarzkopf.

Rachel is very creative, patient and personable. She enjoys all aspects of hairstyling and has a creative flair for up-do’s, and colouring, working with her clients to help them achieve the look they desire.
